Blue is the new green for the motor trade
Blue is the new green for the motor trade
We all know that in recent times the motor trade have had to build their cars to be more environmentally friendly and this trend set to continue into the future with car manufactures having to meet increasingly stringent emission targets. Technology within the motor manufactures is at the forefront of change and the innovation shown by the motor trade buts many other industries to shame.
Whilst the motor trade have had no choice to go all green and maybe some time before Joe public fully embraces the green issue. Car drivers more than any other are more like to rebel against being told what to do, they will stand the increases in fuel prices, taxation hikes, congestion charges, increases in motor trade insurance, constant traffic jams and the appalling state of our roads but if you try and tell what they most drive they are likely to go the opposite way.
It is for this reason that car manufactures have steered away from the green message and that’s why you will have noticed that a lot of new echo friendly models have a blue theme. Blue motion, blue drive, blue tech and blue energy are just a few of the names used to get the green message across recently.
The marketing men are telling us that “blue” mean “green plus technology” and perhaps there is some logic in this as it is easy to relate blue with the colour of the sky and the sea which are the very essence of our world. However, perhaps they are deliberately staying away from the green firm as it may put off some potential buyers.
So if the motor trade can sell more cars by downplaying the green message with the word blue and by doing so they still do their bit for the environment then everyone is a winner.
